A successful office opening party for SRK Sweden was held alongside a major Nordic mining conference in Skellefteå, Euro Mine Expo, in June of this year. The party was well attended by a good cross-section of clients, suppliers, government organisations, academic institutions and also representatives from SRK UK and SRK Exploration.

SRK Sweden was established in Skellefteå in April 2009. The practice has benefited from being located in a mining region and has developed a high profile client base in a very short period of time. Although still relatively small in terms of number of employees, the office has already started to develop a group of specialised associates and also has access to SRK employees based at its offices elsewhere in Europe and around the world.

Most of SRK Sweden’s work during 2009/10 has been within Sweden, but recent commissions in Finland bode well for expanding the client base to the rest of the Nordic Region over the coming years.

Success in The Sunday Times Best 100 SMEsSRK (UK) is celebrating its continued Best Companies Accreditation and latest entry into The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For List. This is the second year the company has been accredited and has improved its listing entry to 46th.

The Best Companies accreditation survey places great emphasis on the views of employees, with the ranking being awarded based on the scores achieved from feedback on areas such as Leadership, Wellbeing, Belonging, Giving Back and Personal Growth.

The survey results indicate that the Company scores highly with respect to remuneration (87%), as well as the working environment (83%).

Reflecting on its success, Iestyn Humphreys, Managing Director, states that “The improved ranking in only our second year of submission directly reflects on the continued commitment and work ethic of all of our 99 employees. To be ranked 3rd in the UK as offering a “fair deal” to its workforce is something we are very proud of.”

Richard Caseby, Managing Editor at The Sunday Times, describes this year's survey as: “the most comprehensive yet with more than 230,000 employees — 30,000 more than last year — contributing their opinions across no fewer than 70 aspects of their workplaces.
